Frequently Asked Questions

Our staff are one phone call, fax, or e-mail away. Contact us if you have questions, need advice or just want some assistance with the products.

What do we do?
We calibrate, repair, sell, and hire testing instruments.

Why Calibrate?
Pullman Instruments is aware that calibration is sometimes seen as an overhead only. At Pullman Instruments, we believe that a correctly calibrated instrument will over time save you money, paying for its calibration.

What Calibration is NOT?
Calibration is not a warranty or statement of how long an instrument will last or operate! Calibration is purely an indication that the instrument was found to be performing within the specified specification at the time of the calibration only. It provides confidence that the instrument has been, and is, operating to the manufacturers specification. If it is not, the calibration house will adjust and inform the owner of the adjustment made. At Pullman we do not charge extra for this service.

What's the difference between ISO9001 and UKAS calibration laboratories?
ISO9001 registration merely indicates their company quality system conforms to ISO9001 requirements. ISO9001 registration has no bearing on the technical quality of calibration work and in itself is no guarantee the calibrations themselves conform to your own requirements. Whereas A UKAS accredited laboratory is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 and incorporates a full assessment of the labs scope of calibration.

Are UKAS calibration certificates recognised overseas?
UKAS calibration certificates are internationally recognised through multilateral agreements of which UKAS is a signatory. UKAS has also recently received recognition in the USA by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) FDA (Federal Drugs Administration) and NVLAP (National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program)
