Pullman Instruments - Specialists in Calibration and Measurement

WHO ARE WE?

Who are We?

Pullman Instruments was founded by Colin Smith in 2 small offices in Albert Hymas goods yard with only 3 employees in 1980. As the work increased, so did the number of staff to service our customer’s needs. Pullman Instruments, over the years, has passed from father to son, Nathan Smith currently Managing Director.

Growth has been steady through the years, with the last decade bringing increasing instrument service numbers which now exceed 25,000 per year. We now have our head office in the 'Northern Powerhouse' County of North Yorkshire, with an additional 4 branches of the business located around the UK giving Pullman Instruments a truly national presence in the UK calibration sector.

Our supplier list is instantly recognisable, our ability proven and our capability is extensive. Our aim and strategy has been continual development, to upgrade and improve our performance year on year. This has meant that commitment to investment has been high on our agenda, specifically improvements to our Temperature and Pressure capabilities. Our Core services continue to be strengthened, as two of the smaller ESG companies Calibration Uk Ltd, and Milton Keynes Instrumentation Services Ltd (MKIS) have been merged into Pullman Instruments (UK) Ltd. The Wigan office (formerly Calibration UK Ltd) will now be called Pullman Instruments North West. The Milton Keynes office (Formerly MKIS) will now be called Pullman Instruments Central

Flow-Mon Ltd., the division of the ESG  that manufactures robust and reliable Flow Indicators, continues to increase it's distribution base targeting countries such as Africa, Brazil, India and China. As a manufacturer of popular low cost flow indicators and switches it continues to increase it's market share worldwide.

Climatic Services Ltd, continues to enhance the service scope offered and is continuing to gain access to a sector which was outside the group portfolio. Based in Glenrothes, Scotland, Climatic Services calibrate, maintain, repair, supply and hire from small portable to room size environmental test chambers, and have been doing so for over 30 years, along with offering product and material integrity tests using the lab based environmental Simulators. These tests are temperature and humidity cycling, temperature only cycling, thermal shock and salt mist/corrosion testing. In January 2019  they were accredited as a UKAS laboratory.

These changes fall in line with the strategic growth strategy for Pullman Instruments and the ESG Group. Ouraim and focus is to increase our presence in the UK service and calibration sector in a twofold way. Firstly, developing core disciplines, building on the high standards of accreditation we have achieved, and, secondly, in geographical areas where we haven't had a presence until now. Our vision has been to offer multi-discipline calibrations through procurement, concentrating on group development by acquisition allowing us to increase our geographical locations, increasing access to other areas of the country.
